When Australia celebrated its Bicentennial in 1988, the former mother country, Great Britain, sent its most famous steam locomotive, London and North Eastern Railway No. 4472, "Flying Scotsman", to join the festivities. The 4-6-2 hauled several all-day excursion trains, as she was doing at sunset as she sped down the tracks near Barnawartha, Victoria, on October 25, 1988.
